Facebook Live: 6 Summer Business Success Strategies

Does your business get hot during the summer or does it cool down? Do you know?

Many businesses see a slowdown in the summertime as their clients and customers take vacations, kids are off school and everyone is out enjoying the warmer weather.  For some businesses, summer is their busiest time, for example, roofing companies, resorts, gardening, and ice cream parlors.

I’ve personally experienced both types of summer, crazy busy summers when my clients are focused on working on their businesses. I’ve also experienced very slow summers when it difficult to connect with anyone.

Do you know what to expect in the summer for your business?

If you are like most businesses that do experience a slowdown, now is the time to make your summer plans and use the next 3 months to drive your business forward.  Here are 6 Summer Business Success Strategies.

1: Review and revise your marketing material

If summer is a slow time for you then it is a great opportunity to review and revise your marketing material. Start with your website – take a moment and visit it like this is your first time landing on it. What is that experience like? What can you update?  Review your Social Media Profiles and make sure they are up to date and aligned with your message. For example Facebook business pages templates have been revised so it is a good idea to review what is on your business page and update accordingly.

2: Get ahead of the game

One thing I’ve learnt is even if summer slows down it goes by really quickly. What can you do during the summer to be ready for the last 4 months of the year when business picks up? What do you need to have ready to meet your top goals? What project can you get on top of over the summer? What can you create?

3: Get on top of the admin activities

Are you on top of all you admin activities? No, then summer is a great time to catch up. If you’ve been thinking of outsourcing some of your admin activities the summer slowdown is a great time to do your research and interview people.

4: Learn

Your summer slowdown is a great opportunity to send yourself to “Summer School” – what one thing do you need to learn to help grow your business? Perhaps you’ve been thinking of podcasting, how to improve your Google ranking, or add an online booking tool. Pick one topic and focus on it during the summer.

5: Connect

If your business slowdown in the summer so do many other. Summer is a great time to connect with fellow business owners, potential partners, and clients. Aim to set up at least one “connection” meeting a week. It could be a phone call, a nice summer lunch or drinks on a patio. Reach out and see what might become of a good conversation.

6: Take advantage of the slowdown and recharge

You are so important to your business success and summer is wonderful time to recharge. So take advantage of the slow down and plan time for yourself.  Work a 3 or 4 day week, work half days, or take time off. Remember to “unplug” to really allow yourself time relax and recharge.

Now is the time to make your plans for the summer because it really does fly by. What will you do during the summer slowdown? Please share below.
