Facebook Live: How to Bust Through Your Limiting Beliefs
When it comes to building an incredible business and life, there is no limit to what each of us can do. The one thing that often keeps us from reaching our potential is our beliefs.
Have you ever believed something only to find out later it was not true? Unfortunately, we often believe things about ourselves that simply are not true, and these limiting beliefs can hold us back from reaching our full potential.
Each of us has some limiting beliefs that are slowing us down or getting in our way of realizing our dreams. How limiting beliefs evolve is complicated and individual for each of us; however, one thing we all have in common is that these beliefs are holding us back.
What makes a difference is how we deal with those beliefs, how we bust through them and create new inspired beliefs.
We can’t undo where these beliefs come from but we can challenge them. We can say no more, that belief is not serving me well. It is time to bust through those beliefs, one at a time, acknowledge them and move beyond them. Let’s focus on what we can do, let’s focus on crushing one limiting belief at a time.
1: Identify the Limiting Belief
Tackle one at a time. Think about one limiting belief that is not serving you well right now, write it down.
My limiting belief is ____________________________. That limiting belief is getting in my way of________________________.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to write a book but you think you don’t have enough credentials and no one will want to read it. Maybe you want to teach a program on what you love doing in your business but you believe that you can’t sell so no one will buy it.
Whatever it is that you want to do, identify the beliefs that keep you from take action to move towards what you want.
2: Challenge the Limiting Belief
Next challenge the limiting belief, and bust through it. Talk it out with a close friend, or your business coach.
Is it a belief, a fear, or insecurity? Where did the belief come from? Have you created a narrative in your head on the topic that no longer makes sense? Does the belief even belong to you? Do you believe it for others?
Visualize what you’d do and how your business/life would look if that belief wasn’t’ there.
3: Replace the Limiting Belief
Now is the time to rewrite that belief and replace it with an “I can” belief. Give the example before “You can’t write a book because you don’t have the right credentials”. Replace it with “Of course I can write a book. I am knowledgeable on the topic and my point of view is important. There are people who will connect with it and it will help them.”
Of course I can______________________, I can do this because________________________! I will do this because I want________________________________.
4: Fake it Until You Make it!
Limiting beliefs do not disappear overnight, I wish they did. It takes a while to rewrite the script in your head. The best way to move beyond a limiting belief is to act as if you’re already there. If you want to have a successful business that is making a difference and earning you a 6 or 7 figure salary, what would your day be like? How would you handle business decisions? How would you make sales?
Each day take a moment and visualize your success and yourself once you bust through your limiting belief. Keep doing this and you’ll stop believing it and start believing your new “I can” belief.
When have you busted through a limiting belief? How did you feel?
