Today is Five Minute Friday Blog Challenge started by Lisa-Jo Baker. Every Friday she’s post a word then hundreds of people blog for five minutes on the topic and support each other. It is a fun way to end the week. Today’s word is Write.
Write – In today’s social media driven world businesses are writing less more often. I know that sounds weird but it true. We tweet 140 characters, we add picture on Pinterest, we answer emails, and we post update on LinkedIn and Facebook. When do you actually write in a creative way? Why is that so important? Is good writing become a lost skill?
Before I started blogging regularly, I rarely created new content. I had ideas, I spoke about my ideas. What was missing was consistency and discovering my business voice. I started blogging daily, well almost daily, in October 2013, that was 4 months ago.
I’ve seen huge benefits:
- Writing is easier
- My message and my style has matured
- People are reading my material and providing me with great feedback and as a bonus new ideas
- I’ve increased my list
- I’ve sign up new business
- I can create and develop connect so much faster now.
When do you write? Do you have desire to write a book? Share you ideas?

Hey Heather,
Thanks for this. I was reading something earlier about being consistent and gradual in whatever you do. This reminds me to be consistent and gradually build my writing skills as you have, as that is one of the things I love to do. I’m glad it has resulted in getting new business and helping more people, as that is definitely my goal.
Heather Cameron says
Marion, that is a great point. Consistence in anything will give us results. Thanks for the reminder.

Writing consistently helps to refine your message, sharpen your skills, and find the words that get your message across most effectively.
I’ve blogged for years, and have found that when I’m writing consistently, I’m happier, I’m more productive, and I find more inspiration for content. This 30 challenge we’re in is doing awesome things for me and my blog!
