Monday Morning Moment: Essence of A New Day

Monday Morning Moment: Essence of A New Day

Essence of A New Day

I’ve had a card with the quote “Essence of A New Day” hanging on my office walls for over 13 years. I don’t remember who gave is to me. It has traveled with me from Canada to Australia and back.

Essence of A New Day - Quote

It was an anchor for me during difficult times when I was faced with downsizing my team. I couldn’t change the fact that I had to let people go but I could do it in the best way possible. As difficult as those times were I have great memories of the appreciation my team had for the way I handled it.

It was and still is an anchor for me as I navigate the journey of being an entrepreneur.  I try to think about how I apply myself each day, the quality I bring to my work, the way I approach each conversations and value I put on each relationships. I try not to focus on the pass as I can’t change it.  I can appreciate it and learn from it but I can’t change it.

“This is a beginning of a new day.

You have been given this day to use as you will.

You can waste it or use it for good.

What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.

When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever;

in its place is something that you have left behind…let it be something good.”

Author Unkown

I love the last line “When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In its place is something that you have left behind…let it be something good.”! It is a great reminder to make the most of each day, even the difficult ones.

“You have been given this day to use as you will.” What will you do today to make sure that what is left behind is “something good”? How can this motivate you? Please share below.

Renee – it is important for a healthy life and yet we forget that so much, particularly with everything being so turned “on”.

Brilliant quote! The past definitely can’t determine your future. It is what you do with today and each and every day that counts. If you want things to be different, if you want to create an impact, if you want to leave a legacy, do something NOW. NOW is always your Next Opportunity to Win!

Wonderful quote Heather. It makes me stop and appreciate the moment that is NOW because it’s the only time that is real. The past has gone and the future has not yet happened. In this moment, all is well and so I immerse myself in it fully.

We spent most of our time regretting the past and worrying about the future. It causes resistance and life itself cannot flow freely because we’ve become absent in the midst of it. We block ourselves from life.

The only place life is happening is in this very moment. You just have to stop for a moment and listens to the sounds of the birds or the whistling of the wind to realize, life itself is happening now.

When you match your own frequency to the life creating rhythms and tones of the Universe, you are always in the perfect place to receive love, happiness and peace. That’s what makes life important and meaningful. Thanks for your profound post Heather and helping us to appreciate ‘The Essence of a New Day’. 🙂

Pure awesomeness here, Heather!! While can’t control some of the things happening around us, we sure can control how we respond to those things. Treating people with respect can be a real game changer. Hmmm… and now I’m off to do some good in the world!!

Deb – That is the really strength that we all have to tap into – ”We sure can control how we respond to these things!” Is thinking about how we respond and how we react, both in business and in life. Thanks for the comment.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we were taught to leave the past behind, have a goal for the future and make today be the day that counts? Fortunately, many are enlightened and know the present is where it matters. And it just has to be where you know who you are being, your interactions with others, the actions you take, all will make a difference and leave an imprint.

Rosyln, It would be wonderful and life would be so much easier for everyone. I think business owners would be more successful as well, focusing on what they can do today to reach their targets and goals.

What a wonderful card with yet a very memorable message that we must keep dear to our heart. I really do like the last line, because we are here for a purpose, but we want to leave something that is memorable and a gift for others.

Jewel – thank you for your comment. I love the last line. I do think we all want to leave a something memorable behind but often people don’t really know how to do that.

Beautiful! Great reminder to stay present and focus on the step we are on, to take action rather than dwell and think about what has already gone by. Reminds me of what I heard Hale Dwoskin say something to the effect of: “If we think about what has happened and why and how to solve it, it is probably because we are planning on having that happen again.” That was an eye-opener for me.

Yes Barrie, it is so simple and yet so hard to do. I know the power in think about tomorrow, allow the dreams to flow and creating goals but if you don’t act in some way TODAY then those dreams will never come to be.

Exactly, the past is just that. We can learn from it but we have to not get stuck in it. Sometimes that is easier said then done, I know but it is so powerful to let the past go and look forward.
