Five Minute Friday: Willing

By Heather Cameron 6 Comments

Today is Five Minute Friday Blog Challenge started by Lisa-Jo Baker. Every Friday she’s post a word then hundreds of people blog for five minutes on the topic and support each other. It is a fun way to end the week. Today’s word is Willing.

 Willing

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.” – Brian Tracy

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.” – Leonardo da Vinci

These two quote combined really make up the essence of 2 key success factors for entrepreneurs. We have to first be willing to step outside our own comfort zone, to feel awkward and uncomfortable, and try new things in order to take our business to the next level. Secondly we have to not only be willing but we have to actually do it!

I speak to so many people that are stuck in “willing to” but never take the step to actually “doing”. They talk, they dream and they learn about it but they aren’t doing anything to move themselves forward to achieve what they want. On the other hand I can think of entrepreneurs who have move from “willing” to “doing” and are having amazing results.

I’m guilty of that myself, I’m willing and prepared to take a new step in my business but I’m not doing the right things to get there. That is huge for me! To really accept that and know that I’m the only thing standing in my own way. I’ve been willing for a long time but I haven’t been doing all of the rights things and guess what? I’m not getting the results I want and need. So now is the time for me to roll up my sleeves and get to “doing”.

What have you been willing to but not doing? What are you ready to start doing today?

I can totally relate. When you don’t follow up with the doing, then sometimes you get lost on what you were willing to do 🙂 love your post!

I’m willing to eat healthier, but I’m not actually doing it. Thanks for this post!

It comes down to risk and action, doesn’t it, Heather? What happens WITHIN our comfort zone is likely what we’ve done before and have mastered (or at least handled). And staying in inaction is easy. So, without risk and action, it says we’re not willing to grow, to change, maybe even to succeed. Great challenge piece!

I see where you’re going with this. Sometimes, the first step can be daunting. But we need to change, otherwise we’ll snap like a stiff branch in the wind of change.
