This Week’s Ignite Your Market Challenge: Create Your “Do Not Disturb” Routine
Do you find that when you finally get down to focusing on something important in your business that your attention gets pulled away by an email, phone call or someone walking into your office? In today electronic world there are so many more distractions that can pull us away from focusing on doing one important task at a time.
One habit for all business owners to do is to establish a do not disturb/closed door routine and use it when you are working on your business.
Whether you work from home or in an office it is important to create a routine where you are not to be disturbed by others or by yourself. Yes, yourself! One of the biggest distractions I see with my clients is their own working habits. They are trying to multitask and lose focus quickly. The result is they are often spinning around their priorities and feeling like they’re never getting ahead.
Having a do not disturb routine that you apply for 1 to 2 hours a day to work on your business is a powerful way to move your business forward. It is amazing what you can do in an hour if you’re focused. Image where your business will go if you spend 5 to 10 focused hours a week working on your business growth.
Example of a Closed Door/ Do Not Disturb Routine
- Alert turned off on Smartphone and computer
- Smartphone on silence, turned off or in another room
- All social media closed (i.e. not tab open with social media in the background)
- All unnecessary tabs and applications closed on your computer
- Email closed
- Office door closed and if need a sign on it that says Do Not Disturb
- A fresh glass of water or coffee
- Timer on
