I love this quote: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!” Zig Zigler.
How often have you delayed launching something in your business because you want to make it prefect? To make it perfect you want to learn more, work on it more or get more experience before releasing your “baby”.
I know I have.
The reality is that the first step is to actually start, create the marketing campaign, creating the product or service and start marketing it. Your clients, prospects, partners, and colleagues will help you improve it by their feedback and interest.
I’ve learnt if you don’t start, you’ll never know what it could become. If you do start some times amazing things come out it.
What have you been holding back on that you need to just start? Image what could happen if you do.

Great advice Heather. Too often we are waiting for the time to be just right before taking action. Is this perfectionism or procrastination I wonder?
(Oops!) And she mentions perfectionism is also what blocks cleaning/ decluttering (etc) efforts!
Baby steps get us going!
Love the quote AND your domains name!
Have been reading FlyLady’s book “Sink Reflections,”
You are so right. So much of the progress I have made with my business is all about me being accountable to myself every week and moving forward in baby steps. Thanks!
Holly – I think baby steps are so important. If we don’t start with baby steps we never start at all. Thank you for commenting.
I love this quote as well Heather, thanks for sharing.
Merle – thanks for stopping by, I love that you come by each day and I always enjoy your posts. I’ve finally added CommentLuv. Hopefully it will be working tomorrow.
Heather, the best business advice I ever received was “Don’t wait for it to be perfect!” Perfect is a fleeting thing… what is perfect today will get tweaked next week anyways. As you say, clients and colleagues will give you feedback about your work and you can “check and adjust” to suit the market.
Agnes, I wonder where all this perfectionism started. I mean farmers don’t wait until the weather is perfect to plant or harvest, they plant as soon as the weather is good enough.
You know what, I love this. I’m absolutely hopeless at getting started sometimes. When I deleted my own blog it took me over 6 months to launch my new one,the font wasn’t right, the colour wasn’t right, I couldn’t decide what I wanted to write about etc – you can just imagine. But unless you get started then you never know what you can achieve.
It is so true, we stress about the little things and we don’t start. When we finally do start we wonder why it took us so long. I was the same as you with this website. Was the name right? Did I have the right theme? I finally just did it and have fixed the little things along the way.
I love that quote as well. If I have not mentioned it before, love your domain name. Thanks for sharing. Anita
Anita – thank you for the feedback on my domain name. It took awhile to come up with it but I love it too. It fun to play with the theme around Ignite for different product names.
